About Travis Lee Hicks
Travis Lee Hicks is a father, husband, artist, and long distance runner who lives with his family of five in Greensboro, NC. A Middle Georgia native, Hicks has a Master of Architecture from Princeton University and a BS in Architecture from Georgia Tech.
Hicks practiced architecture and design for 13 years, working for architects such as Michael Graves and Phil Freelon, before leaving the corporate world to teach interior architecture full-time at UNC Greensboro. Travis currently leads design students in community-engaged design projects that impact the greater Piedmont-Triad region of North Carolina.
In addition to running marathons and half marathons, Travis paints watercolors, practices yoga, gardens, and plays Irish traditional music on the uilleann pipes (Irish bagpipes), tin whistle, and anglo concertina. He enjoys playing music for community groups, church services, weddings, and funerals.
In his debut book, No Match For Her, Hicks writes about his experiences as the father of a pediatric cancer patient.
